Boys Advanced U17 Apprenticeship

Launched in 2011 the Oxford United Football Advanced Football Apprenticeship provides talented young males with the chance to combine playing football with academic studies.
The academic programme each student follows will allow them to develop their ability as a football player, whilst acquiring valuable knowledge and skills through educational courses.
The Oxford United Football & Education Academy has now recruited for its first batch of Football Apprentices. This course will run alongside the well established Football & Education Btec programme that has now been running for 4 years but the selected players will also train alongside the Youth team on a regular basis throughout the week. If you are selected to be part of the AFA squad you will complete the following qualifications during the 1 Year course.
There will be access to both the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Sports Science (6 units) and NVQ Level 3 Coaching, Teaching & Instructing
Players will progress through their:
- Level 1 and 2 FA Coaching Awards
- FA basic treatment of injuries
- First aid certificate (Part of FA Level 1 Coaching Award)
- CSLA (Community sports leaders award)
- HSLA (Higher sports leaders award)
- Players will have the opportunity to re-take English and Maths GCSE in partnership with The Oxford Academy (Required for University entry)
- Players have access to structured training sessions every day from one of two qualified coaches.
- Weekly training with Oxford United's Youth Team (approx 8 hours)
- Each player will receive regular 1-1 coaching, squad mentoring on professionalism, mental strength, football fitness, diet and nutrition, match analysis and career development.
- The squad will represent the Oxford United Football Club every Wednesday in the Football Conference.
- The course offers players a possible route into a full scholarship here at Oxford United Football Club.
