This is Oxford United's “own award scheme” for 4-14 year old boys and girls delivered by the Community Scheme's own qualified coaches.  The programme is a structured and progressive scheme to develop children’s football skills and is designed to create maximum enjoyment, involvement and help young footballers realise their full potential.

 

Each course lasts for 12 weeks concentrating on the game's essential skills and building blocks for any player. These are dribbling, passing, control and shooting, as well as improving co-ordination, balance, fitness and social skills. The programme is divided up into three age groups, each with six levels. 4-6 years, 7-10 and 11+years all with levels 1-5 and a premier challenge.

 

Each of the four skills are coached for two weeks and tested at the end of the course.   After 2 weeks there is a review to ensure that the skills practiced on the course has been improved.  The children will then either progress to the next level or continue to develop their skills.  Once all five levels have been achieved children will progress to the elite development programme. 

Elite Coaching and Development Coaching Centre

At our Elite Development Centre, players will receive a high level of coaching based on technique, movement off the ball, individual role and team play and development of skills into match situations.  These centres are focused on development of a player.  This programme allows the children to develop at their own pace.  It also provides the youngest age group a stepping stone to our Development Centres.  For the older payers it provides a pathway to having a trial with our Centre of Excellence
